# GoFin > GoFin is a local crypto CLI that connects AI agents to exchange accounts, wallets and DeFi. A protected local broker keeps credential values away from the agent and independently enforces financial limits and human approval. GoFin supports account and market reads, transfers and bridges, swaps, lending, borrowing and named plans across supported integrations. Availability depends on the installed version, provider, network and account permissions. Reads and previews need no financial approval. Standalone financial writes require fresh Touch ID; supported bounded approvals and plans cover only their approved scope. The beta installation command is `curl -fsSL https://limechain.github.io/gofin-cli/install.sh | sh`. The hosted installer pins a completed GoFin beta and downloads that exact version; no version placeholder is needed for this main command. Installation requires a completed beta with downloadable assets. If none is available, use the source-build instructions. The curl installer is for initial setup and refuses existing installations; use the separate update path below. On versions that support it, a human updates the existing protected installation by running `gofin update` in their own macOS Terminal. It selects the latest completed beta, verifies its identity and checksums, and preserves connections, credentials, financial limits, history and pending operation records. It does not rerun setup, replay financial operations or grant financial authority. Older installations without this command need `make update` once from an updated, reviewed source checkout; do not remove the existing installation to rerun curl. The installed CLI can show newer-beta notices in interactive Terminal output; checks run in the background at most once every 24 hours. Updates are never installed automatically. JSON and redirected output have no notices. `GOFIN_NO_UPDATE_CHECK=1` disables automatic checks and notices, not explicit updates. Incompatible journal schemas are refused. Follow reported recovery instructions before retrying a failed update, and keep any retained backup until verified. The optional version-specific template uses `vX.Y.Z` as a placeholder that must be replaced with an actual published GoFin tag. Historical Fin bundles are not GoFin releases. Current release availability belongs to the upstream release list. The getting-started guide includes source prerequisites, `make bundle`, `make setup`, setup limit defaults, `gofin doctor`, `gofin connections add` and the Codex/Claude Code skill installation commands. The skill grants no financial authority. Setup and credential entry belong to the human in macOS Terminal; credential values go only in GoFin's protected prompt, never chat. ## Website documentation - [GoFin overview](/index.md): Markdown version of the homepage, including capabilities, installation and financial boundaries. - [Getting started](/docs/index.md): Markdown version of the documentation page, covering release and source installation, updates, account connections, the agent skill, limits and approval. - [Choose a specific version](/docs/index.md#version-selection): Optional version-pinned installer template and required release assets. - [Build from source](/docs/index.md#source-build): Build prerequisites, cloning, bundle review and the real protected setup command. - [Setup and limits](/docs/index.md#setup): Administrator authentication, Touch ID, initial limits, defaults and the installation check. - [Update GoFin](/docs/index.md#updates): Human-run beta updates, newer-version notices, state preservation, older installations and recovery guidance. ## Upstream references - [Usage reference](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/LimeChain/gofin-cli/main/docs/usage.md): Full setup, command, provider, plan and recovery documentation. - [Update reference](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/LimeChain/gofin-cli/main/docs/usage.md#updating-gofin): Public beta updates, notices and preservation details. - [Update recovery](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/LimeChain/gofin-cli/main/docs/releases.md#runtime-updates-and-recovery): Runtime replacement, schema compatibility and recovery limitations. - [Security design](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/LimeChain/gofin-cli/main/docs/security.md): Credential isolation, approval and financial authority. - [Agent skill guide](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/LimeChain/gofin-cli/main/docs/companion-skill.md): Installing and maintaining the companion agent skill. - [GoFin skill](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/LimeChain/gofin-cli/main/skills/gofin/SKILL.md): Usage guidance for an agent working with the installed CLI. ## Optional - [Documentation index](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/LimeChain/gofin-cli/main/docs/README.md): Architecture, integration scope and verification references. - [Published releases](https://github.com/LimeChain/gofin-cli/releases): Verify available GoFin installer, bundle and checksum assets. - [Source repository](https://github.com/LimeChain/gofin-cli): Source code, license and contribution information.
